Chapter Thirteen
It seemed like time passed too long in between Tate seeing her again. A few times, he drove to the bakery, but backed out as Emerson was there. If he saw her in a store in town, by the time he went to approach her, Emerson was near. He kept a low profile and was working on a take down every moment. This all was not by protocol, but it was being done by the Tate Manning how to take out drug dealers manual. For him, it was also how to remove Emerson from the likes of Aubrey because now more than ever he was certain that Aubrey didnât love that guy. Tate knew, though, that not seeing her was making him want her more. He knew he liked her already, but for him, it was surely something so much more.
âSo what do you have for me, Reed?â Tate was seeking an update. For weeks, they had been looking into Emerson and Damonâs lives and coming up with more and more illegal happenings and relationships with others that were not noteworthy.
âTate, you are dead on with this, dude. Things are being planned. We are seeing the works in place and hearing the buzz on the streets for a big shipment to pass from sleepy town to high town. Perhaps Cape May to New York. We may need you to watch that Damon guy. He seems to be connected with previous dealers. We ran his photo, and he is tied to drugs on the East Coast and for those with deep pockets.â
âI am glad you are on board with me on this, Reed. I donât want to jeopardize your job, but know that if you can work with some of the team in Hagerstown to inform the narcotics division in this area then they can surely start to play this into their hands, just like you and I use to. Reed, I miss you, man, and how we worked together.â
âYeah, we did some fine take downs.â
Tate did miss him and the life he had. The perfect job for him, great partner, and wonderful married life to a beautiful woman that adored him. He missed it all.
âWhereâd you go? I was talking and you went silent,â Reed questioned.
âI was here, just thinking this through. So you are going to try to nab him and whoever is with him this month?â Tate was more concerned that this didnât go down at Aubreyâs home, her grandmotherâs home. He didnât want her arrested in the process for just being there.
âWe are meeting with the local cops in Cape May next week and will be seeing where they are at with their drug leads and hand over our information to them. Ours will be delivered in person on a platter.â
âSweet and keep me posted. By the way, you can come crash here while you are in town.â
âJust like old times only I want your bed and you can move your ass to your sofa.â Reed laughed out loud.
